So what are some of your this doesn't work, but I want it! products? Shoes.  <sigh      There's a minor rant-within-a-rant about this in the even-more-off-topic thread that spawned from the off-topic thread about cats and litter boxes, but I have foot and leg problems that mean wearing anything not more-or-less combat-boot or Doc-ish (i.e. wide toes and at least ankle-high) is really just out of the question.   But I feel so self-concious about it at job interviews( if you think it's not a huge issue with the majority of employers, just try it) that I keep buying and forcing my feet into dress shoes that I not only can't walk in, I literally can't walk unassisted for two or three days *after* I've got out of them.   And of course, after the things cause me so much pain I never want in them again, but damned if I don't go buy another pair for the next interview.   It's stupid, I know, but I just don't know what else to do...      Does anyone have any suggestions on footwear that is socially acceptable to corporate dickheads and yet matches the above requirements? Preferably not mind-blowingly expensive, though I'm pretty sure that's an impossibility...      If it helps explain the problem, my feet are extremely triangular, about 4 1/2 inches across the toe and 1 1/2 inches across the heel and only six inches long, and my ankles just seem to need a lot of support
