pitfalls here. I want to create a simple website for the reg charity which is the 'Friends' of the church. I have very limited experience of creating simple sites with html editors some years ago. I presume I will cobble the content together with templates and some photos/artwork. I think what I want from hosting is the following: Domain name service Email forwarding Some up to date software for creating and maintaining several pages Possibly the ability to accept donations at some future date Long term service Absolute minimum cost Googling seems to produce a lot of results. Has anybody done this recently who could give me some guidance? You might consider Google's Gmail for the mail and googlepages for the web pages. You have to get the Gmail first:
http://www.gmail.com Then the googlepages:
http://www.googlepages.com It uses the Google Page Creator to manage your pages
http://pages.google.com/-/about.html which is very easy to use if you don't want to do anything fancy like having active content or need your page to look very different from their templates. There's nothing in googlepages that stops you using PayPal to accept donations, but you might have to bypass the page creator to do that. (e.g. create your page with Google Page Creator, go to the page, do file

ave_page_as:html, use a text editor to drop in the code that PayPal gave you, and upload the edited page.) I think we can trust Google to be around for a while, and to keep their systems up to date both in terms of technology and market competitiveness. It's all free. The limits for each googlepages site are: 100mb 500 files there's also an undocumented bandwidth limit, but it's pretty high No server-side _script_ing You can have up to three googlepages sites per Gmail account.
