Of course after I make my defense of Blogger, we start having problems again.  Monday it was down for a while and late Tuesday I couldn't upload photos. [heavy sigh]  It really has been a lot better though.  Rick Lee

Hi Stephanie Just as far as the images hosting is concerned I would suggest to you a couple of alternatives: Movable type and Pixelpost which look very nice from  design point of view (surely it will depend from the template that you would use). The first one could be free of charge, but in this case you have not the right to ask technical support to the support staff; the second one is copletely free and as far as I know you can ask help to the related forum in case you need. I'm very happy with Movable Type myself (hosted on my own server); the only downside to using this content management system is that if you're not skilled at manipulating basic code then it can be quite tricky to get going in the a navigable, picture-only form that most photoblogs use.  From the sounds of it, Pixelpost makes this easy. Both are great for pic-per-page blogs, and now that I think of it, none of the 80 or so photoblogs to which I subscribe are of the scrolling kind; the single image per page system really lends itself to effective presentation of images, perhaps forcing users to be more judicious in terms of what they choose to post as well.
