So what are some of your this doesn't work, but I want it! products? Glitter gel that contains non-translucent glitter. I have a drawfull. It pretty much all looks like dirt on me. The only glitter I ever use is a Stargazer one with irridescent turquoise/violet glitter which you can see through, apart from ultra-fine UD sparkly stuff, which isn't quite the same... Coloured lipglosses that I think will work over regular lipstick, but in practice make the lipstick evaporate. How do they do this? I leave the house with purple-lined lips, a coat of a more red-purple lipstick, & a coat of L'Oreal purple lipgloss. By the time I reach town, I glance in a mirror, only to see my now almost natural-coloured lips, outlined by purple pencil which now makes me look like a circus employee. Argh! Tops which say they're the size I believe I am, but are in a little teenage girl store, so are actually a whole size smaller than I expect & dig right into my armpits, making me feel all uncomfortable & sweaty. Why don't I *always* try them on? Purple nail varnish. I never find the shade I want, yet I keep buying every damn one I see. I want a real blue-violet. Not pastel. Not too dark. Really vivid. Doesn't appear to exist. On size again, leggings which are smaller than my current size, thinking they'll be comfortable enough because they stretch. Nonono. I am not that skinny any more, & I don't need tormenting with tight elastic to remind me this. Dressy somewhat formal jackets. I have nowhere to wear them. I'm pretty much cured of this one now. Lucy

SING IT curvy girl! That is not the problem. I am 5'10 with a sz 11 foot meaning the crotch area in most tights end up a lil over my knees. I started making my own tights. I found thick black tights yet no light pink or white so I can screen print with them. snip< Wedding sites? Big department stores tend to have at least *some* white tights for this reason. I successfully hand-painted white stockings with fabric paints, & washed them succesfully in the past. Just make sure you use suitably runny/diluted paint. And if you want to try little repeat patterns in less-stretchy paints (like the bright coloured plasticy/glittery/glowy stuff) then you can also achieve some fun effects, but try stretching the section of tights you are painting over a big cardboard tube first. I did this with tights & one of those cardboard tubular containers you sometimes get bottles of whisky in. Leave the tights stretched until the paint dries! Oh, & in my experience, glow-in-the-dark white paint dries to look like mucus or similar substance on black tights :/ Lucy (have fun!)

Glitter polishes with hearts and stars in them. They just don't work! I used a Hello Kitty clear w/holo glitter and silver stars polish and it worked wonderfully! First I put on a coat w/o the stars, then while it was still a bit wet and tacky, I used the brush to pluck out one star at a time and stick it to my nail. (I think I did five on each). When that dried I finished it off with another coat of the clear glittery stuff w/o stars. It took some time and patience but looked really cool!!! Brat Fink! http://members.tripod.com/brat_fink/

I see a bottle, I want it. I want glitter star nails! But it doesn't work. I usually dip into the polish with the brush and place them on my nails. I'm not sure if it's more time consuming than placing loose glittery hearts/stars on my nails or not, but it does get them to stick. I just can't find a way to make them not peel up. They do so no matter how many top coats I put over them. =( Zev. I've found the problem with this stuff is the _base_ is thicker. And there's this urge to put a bunch of these things on at once- and unless you let it dry THOROUGHLY after each damn star- it gops up and peels off. Not the stars- the _base_ stuff. Those little stars do peel up and then ya think- hey. Well I'll even it out with more of the clear gok. And you put on more clear gok and it seems dry and then you touch something- in my case its always my hair- and then you think- what the hell was I doing? I don't even WANT stars or of all things- hearts- on my fingernails! Then you get mad and SCRAPE the rest of that stuff off and realize you dont have any nail polish remover- Mare Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/

Glitter lipsticks. These never work as well as just using Liquid Sparkle with some gloss. They're either gritty, or there isn't enough glitter in them, or they taste really funny... yet, every time I see some sort of glittering lip product, I want. So what are some of your this doesn't work, but I want it! products? -Definitely the glitter lipstick. I have yet to find any that applies smoothly & looks good on. I even tried buying English Ideas glitter lip last & all that stuff does is crack & peel on my lips. Ugh. I am still contemplating purchasing the Anna Sui glitter lipstick (#300?) even so. -Assorted body glitters. I have one by Girl cosmetics in purple that makes me look dirty. I also have one by Caboodles in light green that does absolutely nothing on. But they all look so sparkly & shiny in the packaging..I'm like a magpie & cannot resist! -The lava lamp lipglosses. It looks like they would have absolutely NO color on, just the greasy texture, yet I am always drawn to the groovy packaging.

Purple nail varnish. I never find the shade I want, yet I keep buying every damn one I see. I want a real blue-violet. Not pastel. Not too dark. Really vivid. Doesn't appear to exist. Mmmm-hmmm, and if you find one let me know. My solution is to take an almost-right purple (you probably have several, if, like me, you are always questing for perfect purple polish) and _layer_ one coat of it over a coat of medium-to-deep blue polish. Urban Decay Meltdown is nice, but it is bluish violet with a bright blue reflection, so it usually looks much more blue than purple, on the nails. UD Plague is a dark, dark, purple, probably much darker than you want. It looks almost black when I wear two coats. Hope this helps a little.
