I think it's nice that you try to make unifying theories of people's behavior - I have made several attempts at the same thing a while back. I remember having unfinished theories like 'tension theory', but I learnt that observing people and reading a wide range of opinions from other people grants a much better insight in life than what I could ever come up with myself. You do with this information as you please. capitol (snip) Well, before my work gets misinterpreted, I better try and clear things up a bit. 1)  To tell you the truth, I don't know where you got  'inspired by the dogma that the jerks have all the chicks' I don't think I mentioned this ever in my post.  I wasn't sure if people took this the right way - Rio took it a different way as well. I am talking more about making decisions and commitment to that decision - and creating reasons around their decisions.  I was in a relationship for 3 years that I KNEW WAS WRONG and yet I stuck with it - why?  Cause by breaking up I would have to admit I made a mistake. I had to stay consistant with my decision - right or wrong. 2)  What is the reason that people are nice to people that treat them badly?  The basic reason is that the way people treat us is a reflection of how we view ourselves.  We see this person acting nice to other and yet not-so-nice to us - we think, hey what did I do?  Why is this person not nice to me?  I better try harder. 3)  Pacing reality and dealing with something that is familiar.  Their flux.
